Communication Skills Study Days
Designed for GP trainees
Built for real-life consultations
Welcome to GP Fluency
Communication skills training designed for the realities of general practice.
At GP Fluency, we specialise in delivering high-quality communication skills teaching at every stage of GP training. Our small-group study days (maximum 5 trainees per facilitator) are designed to be practical, focused, and supportive — helping you grow in confidence and competence as a consulting clinician.
Through a blend of short, interactive seminars and realistic patient simulation, we create a space where you can break down the consultation into its key components and practise specific skills in a low-pressure, high-feedback environment. Each session includes live facilitation, tailored feedback, and repeated opportunities to apply and refine your skills throughout the day.
Mastery takes practice.
Becoming an effective, independent GP means learning how to communicate with clarity, compassion, and structure. Our training days are designed to focus on one or two core areas of the consultation, giving you the tools to elevate your practice and take your learning confidently into the real world.
Whether you're part way through training or preparing for your final assessments, our aim is simple: To help you understand the tasks and skills that define expert generalist practice — and to make their development feel both achievable and meaningful..

Who
we are
At GP Fluency, we believe that great communication is at the heart of great general practice. We’ve seen first-hand how hard it can be to juggle clinical reasoning, patient expectations, time pressure, and empathy — all within the space of a single consultation.
We’re a small team of GPs and medical educators who came together with one clear aim: to help trainees build confidence and fluency in the consultation room. We’ve worked in busy practices, sat in on hundreds of consultations, and supported trainees through every stage of GP training — and we know that communication is a skill, not just an instinct.
Our courses are designed with that in mind. We keep group sizes small so there’s time to think, practise, and reflect. We focus on one or two areas at a time — whether that’s exploring the patient’s agenda, navigating complex consultations, or managing time without losing connection. You’ll work with professional actors, experienced facilitators, and peers who are in the same boat.
Together, we create a safe space to experiment, refine, and grow — because consultation skills aren’t just about passing assessments. They’re about building the habits of an expert generalist: curious, calm, and truly patient-centred
